Marsha Anderson Bomar, a strategic transportation advisor at GHD, has been named to Forbes’ 50 Over 50 for 2026, an annual list that highlights influential women who are shaping their industries.

Bomar serves as the president of the American Society of Civil Engineers. She was honored in the Innovation category, which celebrates science and technology standouts.

"I'm grateful to be recognized on the Forbes 50 Over 50 List,” Bomar said. “The transportation industry has the power to connect people with opportunity and improve quality of life. I've spent my career focused on creating lasting impact through leadership, innovation and service, and I'm excited to continue contributing to the future of our profession."

She has decades of leadership across public and private sectors, including her previous roles as commissioner emeritus for the City of Atlanta Department of Transportation and assistant general manager at Metropolitan Atlanta Regional Transportation Authority (MARTA). She also founded and ran her own companies, Street Smarts and Data Smarts, for two decades.

Bomar has been active in ASCE for many years, serving as treasurer on the Board of Direction and as technical region director from 2018-2020. She has also played a key role in ASCE’s Transportation and Development Institute for 20 years, including as president in 2010 and as co-founder of the Georgia Section’s T&DI chapter. She was also the first woman to serve as president of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.

Those named to Forbes’ 50 over 50 and 30 under 30 lists will gather in the fall, where they will be honored at a New York City event.
