The Glenfield to Leppington Rail line opens up new growth corridor
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
The new 10km passenger rail line running between Glenfield and Leppington, with long term plans to extend to Bringelly, provides for the sustainable development of Edmondson Park, Leppington and the broader South West Growth Centre.

The new 10km passenger rail line running between Glenfield and Leppington, with long term plans to extend to Bringelly, provides for the sustainable development of Edmondson Park, Leppington and the broader South West Growth Centre.
The challenge
The line provides a direct transport link to and from the southwest region of Sydney, the ‘global economic corridor’ and key regional destinations including Liverpool.
Our response
The project scope included new stations, new train stabling facilities, rail systems work, new bridges, structures and a tunnel underneath Hume Highway.
Our team undertook detailed design and construction phase services, in a collaborative design and construct framework for John Holland, with Transport for NSW as the Principal.
The design involved coordination of a high volume of interfaces with multiple design consultants across numerous design disciplines. Based in an integrated office, our team managed one digital platform for all consultants. 3D modelling processes were implemented for clash detection and visualisations of key and complicated components.
Stations and stabling yard services included architecture, structures, building services, car park civil engineering and traffic management.

The impact
Improving rail services as part of effective environmental management, reduces the required in road networks and provides congestion relief.
