GHD launches Indonesia office
Jakarta, 23 April 2026 -- Global professional services company, GHD has celebrated the launch of its new Indonesia office with a special networking reception at the Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, attended by leaders from government, industry, and business as well as New Zealand and Canadian ambassadors.
“Expanding into Indonesia further supports opportunities to collaborate with our clients and partners in Southeast Asia and beyond, building on our established operations in Singapore and the Philippines,” noted Jim Giannopoulos, GHD’s CEO.
“Indonesia is expected to become the world's fourth-largest economy by 2050. In Indonesia and the wider ASEAN region, we see communities that expect a future that includes a stronger environmental focus and the need for sustainable resource development, especially for food, water, energy and minerals.”
GHD is already working on a joint Canadian-Indonesian pilot to bring advanced water metering to Jambi City, collaborating closely with Perumdam Tirta Mayang Kota Jambi and the Canadian Commercial Corporation. In addition, GHD recently developed the ASEAN SAF 2050 Outlook report on sustainable aviation fuel supply chains in Indonesia and other ASEAN countries, as part of a joint Canadian-ASEAN research project.
GHD’s Indonesian office is led by Phil Baker, who is a Principal and Senior Executive Adviser at GHD, with more than 40 years’ experience working across the energy and resources and international development assistance sectors in more than 20 countries. A mechanical engineer by training, he has led and advised on major energy transition, mining, oil and gas and future fuels projects, alongside senior roles on international development programs. His experience spans strategy, investment advisory, project development and delivery across Asia‑Pacific and globally.
“Our office in Jakarta allows us to work more closely with our clients in Indonesia, as well as our global clients who are investing and expanding in Indonesia. Key areas of focus for our business include energy, resources, water and environment,” Baker said.
Founded in 1928 in Melbourne, Australia, GHD employs 12,000 people across more than 160 offices globally. The employee-owned company reported gross revenue exceeding AUD3 billion in 2025.
