Professional services company GHD has received the Superior Sustainability Award at the 2025–26 Consult Australia Awards for Excellence, which recognise outstanding achievements across Australia’s design, advisory and engineering sector.

GHD and Jacobs received the Superior Sustainability Award for their role in the Upper South Creek Advanced Water Recycling Centre (AWRC), delivered for John Holland. The AWRC is a 35ML/d facility designed to support population and economic growth in the Western Sydney Aerotropolis. The project sets a new national benchmark for advanced treated water quality and demonstrates how infrastructure can deliver enduring benefits for both the community and the environment.

Andrew Chitty, GHD Water Market Leader, Sydney, said “This recognition honours a design journey shaped by sustainability from day one. The Platinum Design Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) rating reflects what our team and partners achieved together and our commitment to sustainable outcomes.”

“Upper South Creek shows what ambitious collaboration can deliver for people and place. We’re thankful for the partnership that brought this to life” said Kate Robilliard, Jacobs Executive Director of Operations & Vice President - ANZ Water and Environmental Solutions.

GHD was also highly commended in the Collaboration for Project Excellence category for its role as Fund Coordinator for the Australian Government’s Water for Women Fund. Funded by Australian Government Development Assistance, the Water for Women Fund was a flagship water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programme. Running from 2018-2024, it aimed to improve health, gender equality, and social inclusion across Asia and the Pacific by increasing access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene services.

Dean McIntyre, Executive General Manager – Australia, said the recognition reflected the intent behind how the work was undertaken.

“These awards celebrate work that was shaped by collaboration and a clear focus on long‑term outcomes,” Dean said. “Upper South Creek and the Water for Women Fund both demonstrate the care our teams bring to complex challenges, and the value of working closely with clients and partners to achieve outcomes at scale.”

Overall, GHD was named a finalist across eight categories at this year’s Consult Australia Awards for Excellence.
