Aviation is being reshaped by growth, decarbonisation, emerging technologies and changing passenger expectations. We help clients make confident decisions about infrastructure, operations and future investment, unlocking capacity, renewing critical assets and preparing for what comes next.
Navigate aviation growth, modernisation and decarbonisation while protecting safe, resilient and efficient operations.

We connect aviation strategy with investment and delivery.

Airports, airlines, aviation authorities, developers and emerging mobility operators make decisions across infrastructure, operations, energy and technology that need to work as one system. We help clients evaluate options, test business cases and master plans, and carry preferred pathways into delivery. Our work supporting Western Sydney International Airport brings planning, airside and landside infrastructure, utilities and sustainability together within a major new aviation development.

We find capacity before building more of it.

Passenger demand doesn’t affect every part of an airport equally. We use movement modelling and operational analysis to test check-in, security, waiting, circulation and boarding under different scenarios, showing where operational changes or targeted investment can improve performance. At Brisbane Airport, GHD has supported terminal improvements spanning passenger processing, baggage handling, boarding facilities and airline spaces, helping the airport respond to future growth and changing customer expectations.

We renew infrastructure with its whole life in view.

Aviation assets must support growth while meeting strict operational, safety and environmental requirements. We bring options assessment, design and lifecycle thinking together so clients can understand the operational, environmental and financial implications of investment choices. For Perth Airport’s Terminal 2 apron expansion, GHD led the design and compliance with the Infrastructure Sustainability Council’s IS Essentials framework. Pavement retention, material reuse and alternative water sourcing contributed to Australia’s first IS Essentials Design Rating for an airport project.

We turn aviation transition into workable infrastructure.

Advanced air mobility, electrification and lower-carbon fuels introduce new requirements across aircraft operations, energy systems, passenger processing, safety and transport connections. We help clients test pathways against commercial and operational realities, then translate them into practical infrastructure. As lead design consultant for the first global commercial vertiport by Dubai International Airport, GHD integrated passenger and flight operations, charging infrastructure and intermodal access within a model designed for wider network application. Our sustainable aviation fuel assessment for the ASEAN Secretariat also considered feedstock, supply chains, technology, economics and policy settings across Southeast Asia.

We stay focused on outcomes that matter:

  • Investment choices grounded in operational and commercial evidence
  • More capacity and better passenger experiences from existing infrastructure
  • Critical assets renewed with safety, continuity and resilience in view
  • Practical pathways for lower-carbon fuels, electrification and emerging mobility
