Supporting the next generation of engineering leaders through NSBE Atlanta
ATLANTA -- GHD recently served as the presenting sponsor of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Atlanta Professionals Chapter’s annual Passing the Torch ceremony, which recognizes emerging engineering leaders and supports professional growth across the community.
The event celebrates chapter members and volunteers while recognizing professionals who will carry forward NSBE’s mission to support and elevate Black engineers and STEM professionals.
Featured speakers Jonathan Hunt, General Manager and CEO of MARTA, and Dr. Quinta Warren, Senior Director of Sustainability at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, connected the importance of leadership with the future of Atlanta’s transportation and infrastructure systems.
“Developing future leaders is critical to our profession,” said Garrett Skinner, GHD Atlanta Market Leader. “Passing the Torch recognizes today’s leaders while giving emerging engineers opportunities to build their skills, expand their networks and strengthen their impact in our communities.”
GHD’s sponsorship reflects its commitment to creating pathways into engineering and building professional connections in the communities where it works. The ceremony brought together engineering professionals, business leaders and community partners from across metro Atlanta.
“Atlanta’s growth depends on people who are prepared to lead through new challenges,” said Haley Smith, GHD Community Impact and Partnerships Leader. “Our support for the NSBE Atlanta Professionals Chapter helps build the relationships and local talent needed to move the region forward.”
By connecting emerging professionals with established leaders, Passing the Torch is helping prepare Atlanta’s engineering community for the opportunities ahead.
