GHD selected to design new marine terminal at Savannah's SeaPoint Industrial Terminal Complex
GHD has been selected as the design engineer for the new marine terminal at the SeaPoint Industrial Terminal Complex in Savannah, Georgia, partnering with Michels Construction under a progressive design-build contract.
The 226-acre private, multi-use terminal, part of the 755-acre SeaPoint complex, will become the closest deepwater facility to the Atlantic Ocean within the Port of Savannah, featuring no air draft restrictions, a 3,000-foot berth and direct access to a 47-foot-deep channel. The development is expected to expand marine infrastructure capacity, strengthen one of the nation’s most important gateway ports, support regional economic growth and create thousands of jobs.
"This project marks a defining milestone in the growth of GHD’s maritime practice across the Americas and exemplifies how collaborative design-build delivery continues to shape critical infrastructure for decades to come," said Jon Brent, Project Manager at GHD. “The project represents a significant undertaking for GHD’s U.S. ports business, bringing together the scale, complexity and multidisciplinary depth that define our integrated design and delivery approach.”
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027.
